Health board closes Delaware tattoo parlor that pierced girls
18.05.12
A Delaware tattoo parlor that came under scrutiny last month when it was accused of illegally
piercing two underage girls was ordered closed indefinitely, after local health officials revoked
its permit to operate.
At a hearing yesterday, the Delaware Board of Health reviewed evidence against Fantasy’s of the
Flesh, including a video showing one of the girls receiving a tongue-piercing at the facility.
Environmental Health Director Steve Burke said that owner Jason Parks “knowingly” violated Ohio
law that requires consent of a parent or guardian for someone younger than 18 to be tattooed or
pierced.
According to a complaint filed against Parks in Juvenile Court on Jan. 26, a 12-year-old girl
had her tongue pierced at his shop on Jan. 14, and her 14-year-old friend received a belly-button
piercing on Jan. 20.
Delaware health officials inspected the tattoo parlor, located on E. Winter Street, on Jan. 18
and found several violations, including incomplete client-release forms that did not indicate
whether there was proof of parental consent for younger clients.
