It was his way of thanking his parents, who not only took him in as their own but helped steer him toward wrestling.
“I wanted something meaningful. I just didn’t want to get a tattoo to get a tattoo,” Carretto said. “I knew I always wanted one - when I was younger I always thought they were cool - so I figured what else would better than getting the parents who raised you on your arm? Nobody else is more important in my life right now. They have helped me through everything - school, college decisions, everything.”
They accepted him as their own.
“I have always known I was adopted, but since I was adopted when I was little it really hasn’t affected me,” Carretto said. “I don’t really know it any other way. I just know my mom and dad. Both of my parents have been there equally throughout my life. They have both helped me with everything. I am a Carretto now.”
