Tattoo may hold key to identify man killed by Metro
18.05.12
Officers have carried out DNA examinations, searched dental records, the national database for fingerprints and the missing persons’ bureau but are yet to make any significant progress.
The distinctive bird tattoo was on the front of the man’s right shoulder.
He was carrying £700 in cash in his wallet but no form of identification when he was killed at around 8pm on Friday, January 13.
The man, believed to be aged between 45 and 50, is white, of medium build, and 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall.
He had short brown hair and was clean-shaven.
Officers believe the man may have been living in the area, as he had appeared to have knowledge of the local surroundings.
Chief Insp Mark Warcup, of Gateshead Area Command, said: “The route he had taken to access the Metro lines suggests that he may have had knowledge of the area, but in reality he could have been from absolutely anywhere.”
