In order to qualify for this discount, we must be able to verify that you are, in fact, currently working in a licensed tattoo studio.  You can let us know with your first order, or you can email us now and get the verification process taken care of before you place your first order- this will help us to process your order a lot quicker!.

Make sure to include the following information in the email you send to us requesting professional status:

1. Your name.
2. How long have you been tattooing?
3. The name of the studio where you work.
4. The address of the studio.
5. The phone number of the studio
6. The studio's license number/your license number (whichever is the case in your state/country)
7. The studio owner/manager's name.
8. The studio's website and your website (if applicable).
9. The make and model number of the sterilizer you use. (optional - We are trying to do a study on what sterilizers are being used industry-wide)
10. Forum/IAM username (iif applicable)

We will call to verify the information before granting a "Professional Discount."  Anyone who provides false information will NOT be allowed to re-apply for professional status- ever. 

The new PayPal Shopping cart system has a special button for Verified Professional artists.  However, because of limitations in the software, this button simply applies a 10% discount to the price of each book.  This means that the shopping cart button will only work for certain orders since you are only entitled toi a 10% discount if: A. you order over $200 worth of books, or B.you are a Read Street or Tattoo Forum member and you are ordering under$200 worth of books. If you are placing an order that doesn't entitle you to the 10% discount, please don't use the shopping cart system to check out- you'll need to email your order in to us and we'll send you a PayPal request form or an email invoice asking for a money order or Cashier's Check.
We are, currently, looking at various different software systems that may, or may not, work to automate the whole ordering process- we're getting a lot more orders than we had anticipated!  However, it will take a while for us to find the right system and to get it up and running, so bear with us and email your orders unless  you meet the criteria to use the shoppiung cart button. 

There are a few books on our site (i.e. Hriyoshi's 100 Demons, 108 Heros, namakubi) that are already discounted as much as possible, and the 'Professional Discount' DOES NOT apply to these books.  There are, also, a few books where only limited discounts are available because the price is already discounted as much as possible.  These books are clearly marked on their detailed description page. We have only done this in cases where the professional discount would cause us to lose money.  We are all about helping you to get great reference books at the lowest price anywhere, but we're not going to lose money to do it.  Sorry people, our philanthropy only goes so far!

*Apprentices, who can verify their status, are entitled to a 5% discount on all orders, and an additional 5% on all orders over $300!  The forum discounts DO NOT apply to apprentices.  In order to qualify for this discount, apprentices MUST email us and provide all of the information listed above PLUS the name and contact information of the artist who is apprenticing them. 

All information will be verified by us before any discount is granted.  Anyone who provides false information will NOT be allowed to re-apply for apprentice or professional status- ever. We are strong believers in the value of formal apprenticeships- if you seriously want to learn to tattoo, you'll learn the right way and that means serving an apprenticeship!
