Gold jewelry can really look great in a piercing, but it's just not a good idea for a NEW piercing.
Gold is not a pure metal unless 24kt, which is too soft for jewelry. In purchasing gold for a healed piercing, be sure to stick to 18k. 14k gold is only 58% gold and has numerous other metals thrown into the mix to dilute the gold itself, and anyone of these can cause allergic reactions. Anything above 18k tends to be too soft for practical body jewelry use, as the potential for nicks and bends is greatly increased. If you have any questions about gold, please come in and ask one of our piercers. We don't, usually, keep gold jewelry in stock because by making it a special-order item, we are able to sell it for less than anyone in Austin!
Special orders are completed quickly and we can even have it shipped overnight for a slight extra charge. Custom gold jewelry is no problem- we have access to some of the best goldsmiths in the industry.
