Did your brother Michael Alexander tell you that he thought he stabbed somebody?
"Yes."
Prosecutors questioned Alexander, who along with his brother Michael Alexander faced a first-degree murder charge in connection with Jarrell Fountain's stabbing death in the Franklin Neighborhood in 2010.
In exchange for Floyd Alexander's guilty plea, prosecutors dropped a first-degree murder charge against him and agreed to a seven-year prison sentence to an armed violence charge. Floyd Alexander, 20, was sentenced Monday.
Prosecutor Deb Phillips told Chief Judge John Baricevic during the plea that Floyd Alexander's bicycle was stolen from outside a Belleville tattoo parlor on May 6, 2010. He chased the teen on the bike and threatened to kill him.
Later that evening, Floyd Alexander armed himself with brass knuckles. Michael Alexander took a knife. The Alexander brothers, their stepfather, a cousin and a friend loaded into two cars and went looking for the bike.
