MOMs, Mystics, Juno and Maidens romp (Masked Observer)

A Mellow MoonPie Award, for gallantry above and beyond the call of Carnival, goes not to a Butterfly, but to the lead singer of Bust, the band, who alternately sang and then played a dazzling sax solo as she performed "At Last."
Honorable mention goes to the male escort who lip-synched "Purple Rain" from the stage. Dark Hallway particularly enjoyed Bust's rendition of "Get Down Tonight."
Things the Observer wonders: Is there a technical term for a woman's tattoo that extends all the way across her back? Fortunately, the dress had spaghetti straps; selected, no doubt, so as not to spoil the full effect.
For the Maids of Mirth, the tableau seems passe. The ladies go for brevity and then strike up the band.
The merry MOMS had their big night in the Holiday Inn, where, it seems, most had taken up residence for the weekend. The 2012 theme was "MOMS Soar to New Heights," and the ladies and their guests swept into the Bienville Room and hit the dance floor to a boisterous set of early '80s hits. We're talking B-52s, Billy Idol, Madonna, Rick James and Duran Duran.
