design polynesian tattoo - pictures

I'm looking for a hawaiian/polynesian tattoo design...?

It obviously has to look good... medium size (I want it on my leg), and also if anyone finds out what the polynesian symbols actually mean it would be great! I'm going to Hawaii soon and I might be able to get a tattoo while I'm there, but I've searched

Skin artist leaves lasting mementos

Boi Skrang has definitely left his mark on Waikato.

The artist from Borneo was in the region to showcase the art of traditional Bornean tattooing at the invitation of the crew at Custom Collective Tattoo studio in Hamilton.

And during his time in Waikato Mr Skrang gave each of the people at Custom a pair of Borneo roses, or Bungai Terung which translates to eggplant flower, using traditional methods.

In Bornean tattooing, one stick is used as a type of hammer to tap another stick which has a needle or sharp stick to pierce the skin. Stretching of the skin is very important to the process and, like the tapping of the sticks, each artist has their preferred method.

Mr Skrang said Bungai Terung was the most common design in Bornean tattooing and was usually done on people's shoulders.

Coming from a family of tattoo artists, Mr Skrang had started out as working as a skin sketcher for his boss and then graduated to a tattooist artist when the people of his village asked him to explore the traditional forms in a bid to keep the practice alive.
