THE rain stayed away and the crowds came out to celebrate Australia Day in Camden last Thursday.
Hundreds of people piled into Onslow Oval to take part in Camden Council's celebrations.
There were plenty of activities to keep kids and adults alike happy, including face painting, a crocodile and snake display and temporary Australia Day tattoos.
Camden mayor Greg Warren welcomed 30 new citizens to Australia and the Camden area.
Our newest residents came from as far flung places as Egypt, India, Fiji, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Syria and the United Kingdom.
Camden MP and former mayor Chris Patterson said it had always been one of his favourite duties as mayor to welcome new citizens to Australia.
"I encourage the new citizens to get involved in the community," Mr Patterson said.
"We have wonderful organisations in the Camden community."
The crowds then lined the main street to watch the Macarthur Lions Street Parade.
The parade was a huge success drawing
