Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Zionsville establishments make big deal out ...

I used to think that Dr. Seuss was Irish. Why else would he be so adamant about eating green eggs and ham?
Turns out he was an American of German descent, which meant that he fit in perfectly with St. Patrick's Day revelers. After all, no matter where we come from, we all become Irish on March 17.
Although I've never actually tried green eggs and ham, I have tried a number of other St. Patrick's Day customs and activities.
My favorites? Green beer, Irish coffee, temporary tattoos, bagpipes, beer, large parades . . . and beer.
And this doesn't even begin to cover accessories and clothing.
All I lack is the pedigree. But come Saturday, who cares?
For the record, Americans are the ones responsible for turning food, rivers and beer green. We also came up with St. Patrick's Day parades -- the first ones were actually held in Irish immigrant communities during the late 1700s to show solidarity, and then later to showcase emerging political candidates.
